Kelly was known for his energetic and athletic dancing style, his good looks and the likeable characters that he played on screen.<\/p>\n<p>Although he is known today for his performances in <em><a title=\"Singin' in the Rain\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Singin%27_in_the_Rain\">Singin&#8217; in the Rain<\/a><\/em> and <em><a title=\"An American in Paris (film)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/An_American_in_Paris_%28film%29\">An American in Paris<\/a><\/em>, he was a dominant force in Hollywood musical films from the mid 1940s until this art form fell out of fashion in the late 1950s.
