Manhattan Youth Ballet\u00a0<\/b>and\u00a0Manhattan Movement & Arts Center\u00a0<\/b>presentAnnual Spring Workshop Performances\u00a0<\/i><\/b>on\u00a0Friday, March 7 at 7pm;\u00a0Saturday, March 8 at 3pm & 7pm; and\u00a0Sunday, March 9 at 3pm, at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, 248 West 60th Street, NYC (between Amsterdam and West End Avenues) in the Lincoln Center area.\u00a0 Advance tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students.\u00a0 Tickets can be purchased online atwww.manhattanyouthballet.org<\/a>. Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students at the door.The\u00a0Annual Spring Workshop Performances<\/i><\/b>\u00a0are the culmination of a rehearsal process that begins with the Winter Workshop Intensive in January each year. Students will perform selections from classical masterpieces as well as new works specifically choreographed for Manhattan Youth Ballet. <\/p>\n

The evening includes excerpts from\u00a0George Balanchine’s\u00a0Harlequinade<\/i>;\u00a0a World Premiere by Choreographer-in-Residence Brian Reeder; excerpts fromRaymonda,<\/i>\u00a0staged by Marina Stavitskaya; a World Premiere choreographed byAttila Joey Csiki; and\u00a0Carnival of the Animals<\/i>, choreographed by MYB faculty member Karen Lacy.<\/p>\n

About Manhattan Youth Ballet<\/b><\/p>\n

Modeled with an emphasis on European classical ballet,\u00a0Manhattan Youth Ballet<\/b>\u00a0(MYB) offers world-class training in a nurturing environment focused on discipline, precision and artistry. \u00a0MYB is the culmination of Ms. Rose Caiola’s effort for the past seventeen years to create a viable, curriculum-based ballet academy in Manhattan in order to serve the needs of the multifaceted community. \u00a0Principal members of the faculty have received their training in schools such as the The Kirov Ballet, School of American Ballet, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. \u00a0The faculty strives to bring out the individual potential of each student with an emphasis on artistry as well as technique to create truly versatile dancers for the current dance world. Manhattan Youth Ballet has acquired a reputation for excellent teaching in an intimate and individually supportive environment. The school’s graduates have danced professionally with American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater, Ballet de Espa\u00f1a, San Francisco Ballet and Complexions.<\/p>\n

About Manhattan Movement & Arts Center<\/b><\/p>\n

Manhattan Movement & Arts Center was developed by Rose Caiola as the home of the Manhattan Youth Ballet.\u00a0 Ms. Caiola, a former dancer and actress, founded the academy in the fall of 1994 as Studio Maestro at 48 W. 68th Street, and today serves as the youth ballet’s executive artistic director.\u00a0\u00a0As the ballet academy grew, the search for a larger space inspired in Ms. Caiola a highly personal vision of a studio and theater complex that would encompass all aspects of dance education and performance.<\/p>\n

mmac<\/b>\u00a0opened its doors in June 2008, occupying a dramatic bi-level space within The Element, a luxury high-rise condominium.\u00a0mmac<\/b>‘s theater, has become a popular off-broadway venue for both sit down and limited run productions.mmac<\/b>‘s studios\u00a0host a variety of classes including open ballet and fitness, a fullmmac<\/b>\u00a0kids curriculum, as well as a number of Broadway Workshops and rehearsals with stars such as Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Natalie Portman, and Alec Baldwin.<\/p>\n
