Alternative Society opened with a great energy in “Segredo Da Fe.” It was a perfect indication that the night would be filled with great dancing powered by a cultural experience.<\/p>\n

The most powerful piece of the night was “Mother’s Cry.” I don’t think there was a person in the room that couldn’t identify with the emotions in the choreography.\u00a0 Bravo to Karen Gayle. Performed by\u00a0Adelita\u00a0Hinojosa-Martin<\/p>\n

The highlight of the night was “Baby Baby.” Alexander Hernandez and Alex Holguin are Dance Artists to watch in 2015. They defied the laws of gravity with their natural break dancing abilities, but you could also see the foundation of Capoeira that allowed them to present their magical chemistry in a refreshing way.<\/p>\n

Overall, Alternative Society held true to the purpose of the show, which was to highlight society constantly evolving.<\/p>\n

We are seen as “other” when we strive to break the chains of conventionality, oppression and suppression. Ultimately, however, as humans we are resilient.\u00a0 We always find a way to overcome and celebrate life.<\/p>\n
