Dance Mogul: What inspired you to start dancing

Kimberley Taylor: My sister and I were a handful and at the age of 4 (my sister 7), my mother enrolled us in a local dance and theatre agency school. We absolutely loved it and it became a main part of my life until the age of 14! Every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday we went and it was the norm for 10 more years of my life. I excelled and throughout my school years we juggled homework and professional jobs. So my mother was my main inspiration because clearly she saw something in me and knew right away I needed to focus my energy on something constructive and creative.

Dance Mogul: How did you develop a work ethic to train?

Kimberley Taylor: I developed a work ethic to train from my very first dance teacher Irene Hayes. She taught me discipline within my training and she always emphasized practice and dedication will make me the absolute best. It’s always been with me and I continue to embrace being a student and dedicate my time to being the best I can be.

Dance Mogul: When was your big break?

Kimberley Taylor: My big break was working with Brian Friedman in London. He has always believed in my talent and created so many fabulous opportunities for me. We worked closely together, with me as his assistant choreographer and he always pushed me to showcase my best work! I’ll be forever grateful.

Dance Mogul: What have been some of your memorable moments on stage?

Kimberley Taylor: My most memorable moments on stage have most certainly got to be performing with Janet Jackson (choreographer Gil Duldalao) on the Xfactor UK. As well as Rihanna We found love Xfactor UK (choreographer Tanisha Scott, Creative Tina Landon). For sure the most fun I’ve ever had on stage. So grateful for the opportunity to work with the absolute best in the business! I’ll never forget it.

Dance Mogul: Based on your experience now, what would you tell your younger self?

Kimberley Taylor: I would most certainly tell my younger self to save as much as I can to be able to afford classes and training! I would tell me to do exactly what I’ve done so far 🙂 work hard always, never stop being a student and travel the world.

Dance Mogul: What is it like dancing for major artists on a regular basis?

Kimberley Taylor: Dancing for major artist on a regular basis is always so humbling. I will never forget how hard I worked and how I dedicated everything to be where I am today. To be honest, to me they are normal people just like you and me and I go in do my job and leave feeling so grateful! Nothing better than working for the best, as I feel we all similarly have the same work ethic. And it’s inspiring.

Dance Mogul: What was it like to perform at the 2016 VMAs?

Kimberley Taylor: To perform at the 2016 MTV VMA AWARDS was surreal and also so fulfilling! I would remember watching the show every year in London aspiring to be on that stage! And to finally reach a goal was truly phenomenal and I feel so blessed! It’s a huge achievement to move to this country and strive for greatness! To know how hard you hustled and then be rewarded with an amazing opportunity to perform at the VMAs it’s something you’ll never forget!!

Dance Mogul: Where do you see your dance brand in the next 10yrs and how would you like to help empower the dance community?

Kimberley Taylor: I see myself in 10 years doing so many different things, but mainly I love to go with the flow! God has it all planned out for me, so I don’t need to think about it. I will continue to stay focused and pray everything I do will be rewarded with great opportunities. I would like to empower the dance industry with my story alone and hopefully inspire those to follow in my footsteps and know and believe anything is possible if you work hard and stay humble.

Dance Mogul: What advice do you have for the younger generation of dancers?

Kimberley Taylor: The advice I have for the younger generation would be to never stop being a student. Take the right classes that will benefit your craft and always work hard and never give up dreaming and striving toward their dreams! Everything is possible!!!

Dance Mogul: Is there anyone you would like to thank?

Kimberley Taylor: I would like to thank my mum and dad for their unconditional love. I would also like to thank  Brian Friedman, Tanisha Scott,Jerry reeve and Sisco Gomez for their constant support and inspiration. My close friends for constantly inspiring me, and my whole entire family for always believing in me!!!!
