The Four Questions
The framework that shapes every case study
ARTS
What is being created, preserved, challenged, or transformed?
We examine the actual work — the discipline, the tradition, the choreography, the composition, the practice, the artistry. The human creativity that occupies the room.
PURPOSE
Why does this work exist — and why does an institution invest in it?
We examine the reason behind the resources: the mission, the collaborators, the leadership, the choices about what to program and what to leave out. Purpose is what an institution reveals when it chooses.
COMMUNITY
Who participates, who has access, who collaborates, who benefits?
We examine the door — whether it is open, who walks through it, and what happens on both sides of it. Community is who the work reaches, and who the work still has not reached.
LIFE
What does any of this ultimately contribute to human beings?
We examine what remains after the performance ends — the knowledge, the belonging, the identity, the imagination, the intergenerational transmission. Life is where the work meets human consequence.
Impact tells us what changed.
Legacy tells us what remains.
Events end. Seasons close. Artists move on. What survives — the knowledge, the relationships, the traditions, the documentation, the changed lives — is what allows cultural work to outlive the event itself. This is what Dance Mogul Magazine is documenting for the record.

Institutional claims are sourced. Artist histories are verified. Dance Mogul Magazine’s conclusions are our own, and we identify them as ours.

Why Documentation Matters
Performances end. Buildings change. Leadership turns over. Generations move forward. What survives depends partly on what is remembered, what is transmitted, and what someone took the responsibility to document.
Dance Mogul Magazine believes cultural documentation is itself a form of cultural infrastructure.
