The Legacy & Culture Awards are a direct reflection of the deep artistic roots that have shaped New Jersey's music and dance landscape. Every organizer, performer, and honoree carries a legacy of cultural contribution that deserves to be recognized, preserved, and celebrated.
This inaugural event brings together the trailblazers behind one of the most globally impactful dance movements of our time — Jersey Club. What began on the streets of Newark has grown into a worldwide phenomenon, touching mainstream music, social media, and stages across every continent.

The Culture
The Rise of Jersey Club
Jersey Club is a raw, high-energy dance and music style cultivated by the youth of Newark, New Jersey over more than 20 years. On the music side, the sound was pioneered by the legendary DJ Tameil and the powerhouse production collective known as The Brick Bandits. On the dance floor, The Brick City Dancers and EnVy Dance Group defined the movement and shaped its identity.
The style features signature party dances — the Percolator, Lock It Up, One Leg Get Back, Rock Ya Hips — alongside intricate choreography built by generations of local dancers and crews. Today, artists like Drake, Lil Uzi Vert, and Coi Leray carry Jersey Club's influence into mainstream culture, and the hashtag remains one of the most viral on every major social platform.

Honoring David "Blaze" Coleman
David "Blaze" Coleman was a vital participant and contributor to New Jersey's dance community. His dedication to the art form and his commitment to uplifting young dancers left a mark that continues to shape the culture today. His mother, Mrs. Coleman, carries on his legacy by partnering with local dance leaders to give back to the community he loved. The Legacy & Culture Awards are proud to honor David's memory and the mission of forward progression he lived by.
