Charles Edward Smith Jr. — known across the dance world as King Chuckaduck — is a Florida-to-New York “creative catalyst” whose Club NYC Choreographers Showcase has become a recurring platform for the scene’s top choreographers. Beyond producing, he has danced and choreographed for artists including Jidenna, T-Pain, and Chaka Khan, worked with NBA franchises including the Brooklyn Nets and Chicago Bulls, taught internationally in China and Russia, and serves as guest faculty at Broadway Dance Center. His Instagram community has grown past 73,000 followers.

Charles Edward Smith Jr. — better known as King Chuckaduck — has spent his career doing both, and in August 2024, Dance Mogul Magazine was proud to cover one of his signature productions: the Club NYC Choreographer Showcase in Brooklyn, a night built to put the scene’s choreographers front and center and to honor Jersey legend Sharaya J.

Who Is King Chuckaduck?
To understand why the Club NYC showcase carried the weight it did, you have to understand the man producing it. Charles Edward Smith Jr. describes himself in three words — “FLA → NYC, Creative Catalyst” — a Florida native who built a career in New York across performing, choreography, teaching, and production. That range is rare, and it’s exactly what makes his events feel less like parties and more like platforms.
His performing and choreography credits read like a cross-section of pop culture: he has danced and choreographed for artists including Jidenna, T-Pain, and Chaka Khan, appeared in the choreography for Michael Jackson’s posthumous album Michael, and worked on Capezio’s 125th Anniversary. He has created and performed for NBA franchises including the Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls, and Atlanta Hawks, and appeared on programs like Good Morning America. As an educator, he has taught internationally in China and Russia, at major conventions, and as guest faculty at Broadway Dance Center.
